Beta software is feature complete

(…) As it’s beta software there are obviously quite a few rough edges and we can’t consider it feature complete ()

A beta version is a feature complete, working piece of software. Polish and details may be missing. There will be bugs (as in any piece of software), but very few that break the entire software. Beta versions are often the first public versions, public as in outside the development team. A beta test is meant to test real-life use of the software.

Developers, please stop using beta as an excuse for your crappy software. Testers, don’t use the phrase It’s only beta in your argumentations. A better writer than me wrote about this quite some time ago. Beta is not an excuse.
