Wolf’s Little Store

Skip school

Fresh out of high school. Summer vacation. Three months of freedom. You already know that you want to become a webdesigner.

You’ve got a few study options here and there, but you’re not really sure what to do. One school’s curriculum is arts and arts only, the other course is brand new and from the looks of it, you’re going to be spending way too much time in Flash. You had another option but the teacher’s personal website is awash with iframes and even has a stylesheet selector.

Luckily there’s Andy Rutledge, who thoroughly explains what skills you need to become employable. At the end of his article, he concludes:

In short, take responsibility for your own education. If you’re not being taught or you’re not seeking an education that includes all of the items above, all is not lost—but change what you’re doing. Now. The choices you make now will determine your quality of life and work satisfaction for years to come.

Good luck, and check in if you need a good book or two.
