The Bourne Ultimatum
So I wanted to see a movie tonight. I hear the Bourne Ultimatum gets good reviews. I can’t really remember if I enjoyed the first one, but anyway - I head over to the official site. It’s a full flash site. The first thing I see is a splash screen. It takes me more than 5 seconds to get past this screen: the link “enter the site” is not clearly a link at all. Secondly, music starts blasting through my speakers interfering with the music that was already playing. The mute button (it actually isn’t a button) is tiny 10px text, hard to see, hard to find, and doesn’t even have a speaker icon.
I manage to enter the site and between all the flashing imagery I try to find the trailer. There’s an interface at the bottom which looks like a menu, sort of. I click some items but nothing is labelled, there’s no page titles, nothing. I see a lot of images, a lot of moving parts, but no real information.
Finally I spot the word “intel”, which apparently is FBI-speak for “navigation”. The fact that you have to click a navigation to be able to navigate is not quite right, but I can ignore this. Finally, there’s the trailer. Jesus, that took way too long. Is it just me that has a problem with navigating through [some] flash sites?
I think I’m going to see Control instead. At least their site is a little bit better.
